Pop singer-songwriter Jobob Taeleifi will play a free summer concert at The Block at Orange shopping mall, Friday, July 30, 6:00 p.m. He will perform with a full band and a solo acoustic set on stage in the AMC Courtyard. The show is part of The Block's free summer concert series in a unique shopping area that features stores, restaurants, bowling, day spa, skate park, free wi-fi and theatres. Jobob Taeleifi was named Best New Artist of the Year by the 2010 Hawaii Music Awards. Jobob’s ability to write catchy, memorable pop songs are born out of his innate sense of rhythm, inherent in the mixed cultural influence of his Samoan/Dutch-Irish background. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist Jobob picked up guitar by age 13, later moving onto bass, drums, keyboards and ukulele. At 18-years-old Jobob released his self-titled debut solo CD Jobob Taeleifi, recorded with producer Ebiut Cervantes that featured all original material (two songs co-written/arranged with Cervantes). The first single release “Heartbreak Queen,” (iTunes, CD Baby) charted in the Top 100 on the Mediabase Pop Charts (www.mediabase.com) and also at #3 on TweenPopRadio following Miley Cyrus and Owl City. Additional songs from the CD, “Let Go” and “New Generation,” have already been selected for placement in TV. Always willing to help out wherever he can, Jobob has also participated in a number of benefit concerts and recordings to help out local schools and causes, including tsunami relief for the Samoan islands.
