My cousin is an art student in the Philippines and I knew when my mom called me to welcome him on his brief travel to Los Angeles, I’d give Jason the treat he would surely enjoy. Well, LA is LA and there are a lot of things to do in the LA metro, but I was quite sure at that very weekend, what he needs was exposure to a different world of artistic expression from the City of Angels.
Well, the moment he came, I let himself have a grip of what’s happening for his weekend trip and no wonder, he can’t be more excited. Well, before starting our long exciting day what more fitting way to welcome my cousin but to let him savor one of my most favorite LA food courtesy of Original Tommy’s Hamburgers. I swear I saw his eyes ball up at the sight of that double hamburger. We grabbed a bite and took some quesadillas on our way to our next stop.
We reached Cirrus Art Gallery in about 10 minutes from where we grabbed the yummiest burgers. That day, we were invited to see some works by an artist named Gilian Theobald. Her works were mostly incorporated with inspirations derived from nature and relating it to the human condition.
We then took the 5th Street route and within five minutes we were and reached Bert Green Fine Art Gallery. It was a downtown LA gallery that collects art works from up and coming contemporary local artists and some that are from different places. For an art student it was vital to see a place like this since it was tracing the development of art not just in the Los Angeles region but of course other places.
We went back to my flat that afternoon but of course later that night, I made sure he experienced a great nightlife fun in Mayan Night Club. It was their Tropical Saturday, so I know this made Jason have a blast.
